Together with the Bolhão Market, the Bom Sucesso Market is one of the main municipal markets for fresh produce in Oporto.
The building dates from the first half of the 20th century, when the city of Oporto decides to build a new municipal market in the city. This building is marked by modern architecture, with a structure in reinforced concrete and an arched roof with large glazing so as to make the most of natural light.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the low turnout in the market led the Oporto Municipal Council to approve the delivery of the market to a private company and the construction of a low cost hotel, while maintaining the municipal market function. This new Bom Sucesso Market also has the Hotel da Música, more than 40 stalls in the center, shops in the halls, restaurants, pastry shops, stationery stores and design shops. In the market there is also live music and an exhibition hall.
This opens the commercial space in June 2013 giving new life to the old commercial space, now restored and rehabilitated.
