Inaugurated in 1992, the Carro Eléctrico Museum is housed in the former Termoeléctrica de Massarelos, a listed building of municipal interest.
This museum of the Collective Transport Society of Oporto has a vast collection of both electric cars, trailers and other support vehicles that circulated in Oporto and which marked the history of the city. The set also includes a copy of the American cars of animal traction that circulated for the first time in Porto in 1872.
After a break for rehabilitation works in 2012, the museum reopens in 2015, offering different programs of educational services and animation, and every year there is a parade of cars on the line between Massarelos and Passeio Alegre.
